S3 Coffee Bar – Instagram worthy coffee shop
S3 Coffee Bar is famous for it’s colorful drinks and unique decor, which makes it a hot spot for influencers and avid Instagram photo enthusiasts alike. This coffee shop is located in Grantville, off Mission Gorge Road and is easy to miss. It’s inside the strip mall.
Once inside, you’ll be transported to a world of pink, florals, and art. The space exudes charm with its two-dimensional aesthetic, showcasing floor-to-ceiling black-and-white cartoon art that adds a whimsical touch.

Most of their locations don’t have to-go cups, so you can bring your own or use their charming mason jars, requiring a deposit that is promptly refunded upon their safe return.

Palmys Cafe is a cute beach vibe cafe in Pacific Beach with outdoor courtyard sitting area. . Palmys is decorated with wooden accents, woven artwork, and lot of plants. They present themself as ” cafe, espresso bar, and market” and serve healthy breakfast, brunch and lunch!
Best Coffee Shops in La Jolla
Blue Whale
This is a new coffee shop that opened in 2023. Located in the heart of La Jolla, in a small cottage, this place is a gem. It’s cozy beach aesthetic, and cool menu makes this place a must visit. The menu features full breakfast and lunch options, and has some interesting positions to try:

- Crying Tiger Ribeye
- Octopus Tacos
- Acai Bowls and much more!
I love that this place offers not only breakfast, but full lunch menu with plenty of choice. The only downside is this place has limited siting (first come-first serve basis) and gets pretty crowded on a weekend. Nevertheless, if you wait a little, you’ll be able to get a spot. That said, it is not ideal spot for work/study.
Joe & the Juice
This Copenhagen-born coffee and juice bar is located in UTC Westfield mall. This chain now has over 200 locations worldwide, and is known for its urban vibe, Scandinavian-inspired interiors. Great selection of coffee drinks, fresh juices and breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches feature their own bread, that is thin and crispy (must try!).

Holsem Coffee
Located in North Park, this place is very popular among coffee lovers. Modern design, and very good coffee – what else do you need? 🙂 This coffee shop has lot’s of coffee options and styles. They don’t offer full breakfast, but there are plenty of breakfast items on the menu, like avocado toasts, panini and bagels. They do get pretty busy in the morning, and on the weekends.

Communal is a creative-minded café & shop with multiple locations. Their shop part features many cool and unique items, like home decor, jewelry and flowers, and you can buy some unique gifts here. The place is spacious, with cool decor and lot’s of sitting area.
Communal offers full craft coffee and drink menu, and some pastries/breakfast items. They also serve alcohol (wine and cocktails).

Caffè Calabria
Want to experience traditional Italian coffee shop? This place has it all: traditional Italian cappucinos, real Neapolitan pizza and delicious Aperol Spritz.

Bohemian Alchemist isn’t your typical coffeehouse. This cozy and eclectic cafe offers a laid-back Bohemian atmosphere with its colorful decor and relaxed vibes.
